Herren Herren 2The Herren 2 “Wild Bees” ended their travelling games with a 58-49 lost to TSG Wiesloch on Sunday. After being ahead 31-27 at halftime, the “Wild Bees” ran into an offensive block in the 3rd and 4th quarters with only a 8 and 10 point production. “Wiesloch changed their defense on us after we had so many of their players in foul trouble", stated Coach Wicks. ”Again this is a learning part of the game that we must adjust to and it took us out of our rhythm. After numerous turnovers and missed inside shots the “Wild Bees” could not get back on track.

The Herren 2 “Wild Bees” continued their road wins with a 71:60 win over TV Wieblingen 2 this weekend. The “Wild Bees” again set the tone of the game by coming out and controlling the tempo and control of the game from the beginning. With a halftime score of 32:29, the “Wild Bees” came out in the third quarter and took a commanding lead of 53:43 to head into the final quarter. This is when the backcourt duo of Thomas Weidlich and “Iceman” Nils Uhrig took control of the game.

Herren Herren 2“On the road again” as the song by Willie Nelson goes, it was a bumpy road for the “Wild Bees” in Mannheim going into the fourth quarter, but again the “Bees” swarm defense did the job. Allowing only two field goals in the last 4 minutes and forcing Mannheim to foul, but free throws by Thomas Weidlich closed out the game for the Herren 2 “Wild Bees” third win. “The team has come to understand that defense wins the game, and can dig deep as a strong unit when the game is on the line” stated Coach Wicks.

Herren Herren 2“Maybe we should play all our games on the road” joked Coach Wicks. The Herren 2 “Wild Bees” suffered its second lost at home due to numerous turnovers and mistakes which produced only 17 first half points. “When you have so many errors as this, it is hard to overcome to produce a win over a team like Ladenburg, (coming from Landesliga last season)” stated Coach Wicks. Nils Herzog and Moritz Schneider came off to bench to settle the “swarm” down and produce some instant offensive to make the game look respectable.
