The Herren 2 “Wild Bees” came up short in point this weekend at Rohrbach with a 82-70 lost. Playing good man defense the “Wild Bees” were able to be ahead 38-36 going into the halftime break. “We have been able to work hard on our defense to be able to get thru picks and screens to shut the other team down” stated Coach Wicks. Our man defense coverage comes thru hard work, but also working together as “team defense” to keep teams out of their shooting habits. Going into the 4th quarter with a lead of 65-63 the “Wild Bees” seemed to be able to pull off the win, but as the clock went down, so did the “Wild Bees” shooting percentage. With 4 minutes left with the score 68-64 Rohrbach, the “Wild Bees” had shot after shot miss. “We tried fouling to try to get baskets on our end, but I would have to say, our arms were tired and nothing seemed to go in for us. We have to have faith in our defense, not to foul, but use the clock to be able to secure our wins”. We are coming along and just about there, I would say we are about 82% ready and we can see where the team goes from there. The league is still a close race and I feel a good standing for the team at the end of the season.
